Alan Northrop Ltd was started in 1949 to supply various textile accessories to the Yorkshire and Lancashire weaving industry.
Over a period of time the company began to specialise in the sale of roller covering strips, and today we are the largest stockists of this range of products in the UK. Besides the home market, some go abroad either directly or through sales to textile machinery manufacturers.
Our two main areas of expertise are Roller Coverings, also known as Take-Up Strips and Dennison Attaching Systems.
Our stock of roller coverings is the most extensive in the UK. Along with our experience, it has been developed over many years and represents the best quality products drawn from manufacturers around the world.
These materials have many uses and we will always be pleased to discuss and advise on a particular application.
The range divides into four main groups:
TUFGRIP (Rubber, PVC and PVC/Synthetic Rubber)
High friction coefficient, high resistance to abrasion, oil resistant, max temp 80 degrees C (PVC), 100 degrees C (PVC/Synthetic Rubber), 60 degrees C (self-adhesive version), food contact qualities (please contact us)
All the above strips are available in self-adhesive form, except in widths above 100mm. Also, all our products are available in 30m and 60m coils except the following: D (75m), UD/UX (70m), UG (75m) and Z/ZT (30m). All the above are also available in Full Piece Width approx 590mm non self-adhesive.
NATURAL RUBBER
High friction coefficient, high resiliency, good abrasion resistance, electrically insulating, good chemical resistance except to mineral oils and solvents, max temp 100 degrees C
SYNTHETIC RUBBER
High friction coefficient, high resistance to abrasion, oil and solvent resistant, max temp 120 degrees C
SPECIAL COVERINGS
Felt strip sheet or seamless tubes. High temperature strips up to 220 degrees C. Glass cloth and Emery rolls. Mohair and Flock strips. Cork/Rubber based strips. Qualities for food contact (please contact us)
APPLICATIONS
Textile applications including weaving, finishing, knitting, tufting, winding, sanforising, calendering, drying, sizing, lints and yarns collecting.
Applications in converting industry for films, paper, tissue, stratified materials, adhesive, flexible packaging, wallpaper, floor covering and conveyor belting.
Food contact qualities (please contact us for further advise)
All our take up strips are available with a self-adhesive backing except the following: HTE, HTL and SHT (see attached pdf for details on these qualities)
All the strips described in the detailed pdf are available in 50 m coils (+6/0m) except the following references: MOH (100m), HRA (100m) and TF (30m).

Micro Pitch Standard

Micro Pitch Standard and Fine Fabric attachments have 100 attachments to a strip rather than the normal 50. This cuts down both operator fatigue and down time. Supplied in boxes of 10000. All other attachments are supplied 5000 per box.
LOOPS
75/127/229mm
Used with the standard guns and useful for linking two separate items. Manufactured from extra strong nylon and boxed in 5000’s.
HOOKS
20/35mm
Used with the standard guns and are particularly useful for hanging scarves, socks, gloves etc. Boxed in 5000’s.
RING HOOKS
20/35mm
Hook with complete loop. Similar applications to the hooks described above but for use with heavier articles. Boxed in 5000’s.
SECUR-A-TACH FASTENERS
75/127/230mm
These security loops are particularly useful for tagging products such as luggage, sunglasses, sports equipment and other hard to tag items. Tamper evident and eliminates ticket switching. Boxed in 5000’s.
SECUR-A-TIE FASTENERS
127mm
Ideal for applications where the loop needs to be tied to a specific length or fixed tightly around a product. Boxed in 5000’s.
CABLE TIES
These are ideal for bundling items together for ease of handling. Supplied in packs of 100. Many sizes, colours, designs and widths available upon request.
DENNISON ATTACHING GUNS
An extremely popular pistol grip style gun known all over the world for it’s quality and reliability. It is available in two versions- Standard (takes both standard and heavy duty needles which we also supply) and Fine Fabric.
